How do I know if I need a panel upgrade?
The most common signs are breakers that trip often, lights that dim when big appliances kick on, or a panel that still uses fuses. If your home runs on 100-amp service and you want to add central air, a heat pump, an EV charger, or a generator, you likely need more capacity. We do a free in-home check and tell you honestly whether an upgrade is needed. Sometimes a repair is all it takes.
How long does a panel upgrade take?
Most residential 200-amp upgrades are done in a single day. The power is off for part of that day while we swap the panel and land the circuits. If the utility has to reconnect the service, that can add a little time, so we coordinate it ahead of the work. We always give you a clear window before we start.
Do you handle the permit and inspection?
Yes. We pull the electrical permit, schedule the city inspection, and meet the inspector ourselves. You do not have to chase paperwork or take time off to wait on an inspector. When the job passes, you get the documentation for your records and any future home sale.
Can you upgrade my panel when you install my new furnace or generator?
That is one of the biggest reasons people call us. Because we are licensed for HVAC, generators, and electrical in-house, we can size and upgrade your panel in the same project as your new equipment. One crew, one schedule, no waiting on a separate electrician to free up your install.
My home has old wiring. Is a panel upgrade still safe?
Many older homes in the Mahoning Valley have aluminum, cloth, or knob and tube wiring. A new panel is often the right first step, but we always check the wiring it connects to. If we spot a safety issue, we tell you up front and lay out your options. We will not put a new panel on top of a problem and call it done.

Know where your main breaker is
Before you ever have a problem, walk to your panel and find the big main breaker at the top. In a flood, a burning smell, or a sparking outlet, flipping that one breaker cuts power to the whole house fast. Teach everyone in the family where it is, and keep a flashlight nearby so you are not hunting for it in the dark.
