AK Heating & Cooling electrician installing a GFCI outlet in a Northeast Ohio kitchen

Outlet and switch work for NE Ohio homes.

Outlets and switches are easy to take for granted until one stops working, sparks, or feels warm. These are also the jobs where do-it-yourself mistakes cause the most fires, because a small wiring error behind the wall is hidden until it becomes a problem. A licensed electrician makes sure the connection is right and the circuit is safe.

Older homes around the Valley often have two-prong outlets with no ground, missing GFCI protection in wet areas, and not enough circuits for modern life. Today's code calls for GFCI outlets in kitchens, baths, garages, and outdoors, and AFCI protection in living spaces. We bring your home up to a safer standard and add the outlets and circuits you actually need.

We are AK Heating & Cooling, a licensed Ohio electrical contractor (#38179), fully insured, and family-owned. No job is too small, and every job is done by our own licensed crew. The same Warren-based team that handles your HVAC does the wiring. One call, one company.

How a typical job goes.

How an AK Heating & Cooling visit works.

Small electrical jobs should be simple and stress-free. Here is what to expect.

  1. 1

We talk through what you need

Tell us what is not working or what you want added, and we will ask a few questions to understand the job. For bigger work like a remodel, we will come look at your panel and space. You get a clear idea of what is involved before we start.

  2. 2

We check your circuit and panel

Before adding outlets or circuits, we check that your panel has the capacity to handle it safely. If you need a dedicated circuit or a sub-panel, we will explain why. This avoids overloaded circuits and nuisance breaker trips.

  3. 3

We do the work to code

Our licensed electrician installs your outlets, switches, or circuits with the right wiring and protection. We add GFCI and AFCI where code requires it. The work is neat, safe, and built to last.

  4. 4

    We test and clean up

We test every outlet and switch to make sure it works correctly and safely. We make sure GFCI and AFCI devices trip and reset as they should. Then we clean up and leave your home the way we found it.

Why call a licensed electrician for the small stuff.

Why homeowners pick AK Heating & Cooling.

Even small electrical jobs are worth doing right, because the hidden mistakes are the dangerous ones.

Licensed, even on small jobs

We hold Ohio Electrical Contractor License #38179 and every job, big or small, is done by our own licensed crew. A bad outlet connection can start a fire inside the wall where you cannot see it. Licensed work protects your home.

We bring older homes up to code

Many Valley homes still have ungrounded two-prong outlets and no GFCI protection where it is needed. We upgrade them to safer, grounded, code-compliant outlets. That protects your family and your electronics.

We size circuits the right way

Adding a new appliance, room, or EV charger often needs a dedicated circuit or even a sub-panel. We check your capacity first so you do not end up with tripping breakers. The job is done to handle the load safely.

One company for HVAC and electrical

Because we are licensed in-house, the same Warren-based team that handles your furnace and AC can also wire that new outlet or circuit. One call covers it. No juggling separate contractors.

Family-owned and fully insured

We are family-owned, fully insured, and carry a BBB A+ rating. We show up on time, do clean work, and stand behind it. You get a contractor you can trust for jobs of any size.

FAQ

Frequently asked.

My house has two-prong outlets. Can you make them grounded?

In most cases, yes. Two-prong outlets have no ground, which is a safety risk for modern electronics and appliances. Depending on your wiring, we can either run a proper ground or install GFCI protection that makes the outlet safe and code-compliant. We will check your wiring and recommend the best fix for your home. This is a very common upgrade in older Valley homes.

Where does code require GFCI and AFCI outlets?

GFCI protection is required where water is nearby, including kitchens, bathrooms, garages, basements, and outdoor outlets, because it protects against shock. AFCI protection is required in most living spaces like bedrooms and family rooms, because it guards against the kind of arcing that can start a fire. Current code calls for both in the right places. When we do work in these areas, we bring them up to standard. It is a simple step that makes your home much safer.

Can you add an outlet or circuit for a new appliance or EV charger?

Yes. Bigger appliances and EV chargers often need a dedicated circuit so they do not overload an existing one. We check your panel to confirm it has capacity, and if it is full we can add a sub-panel. Then we run the proper circuit sized for the load. Just tell us what you are adding and we will handle the rest.

Is it safe to replace an outlet or switch myself?

It can be tempting, but electrical work has hidden risks. A loose connection or a wrong wire can cause a fire inside the wall where you will not see it until it is serious. There is also the risk of shock if power is not handled correctly. For your safety and to keep the work to code, it is worth having a licensed electrician do it. We make small jobs quick and affordable.

Do you take on small jobs, or only big projects?

We take on small jobs gladly. A single dead outlet, a new switch, or a flickering light is exactly the kind of work our crew handles. No job is too small, and it is still done by a licensed electrician to code. Call (330) 469-6701 and we will get you taken care of.

Test your GFCI outlets once a month

Those outlets with the little test and reset buttons protect you from shock in kitchens, baths, and outdoor spots. Push the test button once a month; the power should cut off, and the reset button should bring it back. If it does not trip or reset, the outlet is worn out and should be replaced by a licensed electrician.
