Two offers that read exactly the same

“0% interest” means two different things

This is the single most important thing to understand before financing a system, and it is almost never explained on the page advertising the rate. Both products are sold as no interest. Only one of them actually is.

What this offer is

True 0% APR, equal payments

  • No interest accrues at any point during the 60 months.
  • Your payment is calculated to clear the balance by the final month, so there is nothing left to trigger a charge.
  • Nothing is charged retroactively. What you are quoted is what the system costs.
  • You know the full cost the day you sign.
What to watch for elsewhere

Deferred interest, sold as 0%

  • Interest accrues from the purchase date. It is simply not billed yet.
  • Minimum payments are often too small to clear the balance inside the promo window.
  • Any balance left at the end triggers all the accrued interest at once, back to day one.
  • The phrase to look for is “no interest if paid in full within X months.”

Worth knowing: deferred interest is not automatically a bad deal. Paid off early and on schedule it costs nothing either. It is a bad deal when nobody tells you which one you signed. Our standby generator financing runs on a deferred-interest promo and we say so on that page too.

Four minutes that can save four figures

What to ask before you sign anything

Ask us these. Ask whoever else you are getting a quote from. A contractor who cannot answer all four in plain language is telling you something.

Is it true 0%, or deferred interest?

These are different products that sound identical. True 0% spreads the balance in equal payments and charges nothing. Deferred interest quietly accrues from day one and bills you all of it if any balance remains when the promo ends. Ask which one you are signing.

What is the cash price versus the financed price?

Promotional financing costs the contractor a fee, and some rebuild that fee into the job price. Ask for both numbers on the same quote. If they are different, you are paying the interest up front instead of over time.

Is the quote itemized and in writing?

Equipment, labor, permits, and any old-system removal should each carry a line. A single lump sum makes it impossible to compare two bids, and impossible to tell what the financing is actually covering.

What is the rate after the promotional period?

Every promotional plan reverts to a standard rate. On this one it is 28.99%. That number only matters if a balance survives the 60 months, which equal payments are designed to prevent, but you should know it before you sign.

Money that is already sitting there

Ohio programs that stack on top

Financing is how you spread the cost. These are how you reduce it. Most of them go unclaimed because nobody mentions them at the quote.

Ohio ECO-Link

A State Treasurer program that reduces the interest rate on a qualifying bank loan by up to 3% for up to seven years, when at least half the loan funds energy-efficiency improvements. A high-efficiency furnace or heat pump can qualify. It runs through your own bank, separately from the financing above.

Federal 25C tax credit

The Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit covers up to $600 on a qualifying central air conditioner and up to $2,000 on a qualifying heat pump. We hand you the AHRI match number, model numbers, and ENERGY STAR documentation you need at filing time.

Utility rebates

AEP Ohio and Columbia Gas of Ohio both run efficiency rebate programs that change from year to year. We check what is active in your service territory while we are sizing the system, so it gets claimed instead of missed.

Income-qualified programs

The Home Weatherization Assistance Program, administered through Ohio Department of Development and local community action agencies, can cover heating repairs or replacement for income-eligible households at no cost. If you qualify for that, it is a better answer than any loan.

Program terms, eligibility and funding change year to year, and we cannot give tax advice. Verify current rules with the administering agency or your tax preparer before counting on an amount.

Sized first, financed second

How it works, start to finish

The rate matters less than the size of the system. Getting the load calculation right is the difference between financing what your house needs and financing more than it needs.

Step 1 of 4

Tell us what quit

Call (330) 469-6701 and we book a visit. If your system is down, that is an emergency call and we run those around the clock.

Step 2 of 4

We size it properly

An ACCA Manual J load calculation on your actual house, not a rule of thumb off the old unit's badge. Oversizing is the most common way a replacement gets more expensive than it needed to be.

Step 3 of 4

Apply in about five minutes

A short application through Wells Fargo, with a decision back the same day in most cases. You will know your terms before install day, not on it.

Step 4 of 4

Paperwork at signing

We handle the financing paperwork when the job is signed, and hand over the documentation you need for the tax credit and any rebate.

HVAC financing questions

Is 0% for 60 months a catch?

The catch to watch for on any 0% offer is deferred interest, where interest quietly accrues from the purchase date and gets billed to you in full if any balance is left when the promotional period ends. This offer is not structured that way. It is a true 0% APR plan with equal monthly payments, sized so the balance reaches zero by the end of the 60 months. No interest accrues during the promotional period and none is charged retroactively. The standard purchase APR of 28.99% applies only to a balance outside the promotional terms.

What credit score do I need to finance a new HVAC system?

Promotional 0% tiers generally look for a FICO score around 690 or higher, and lenders also weigh debt-to-income ratio, income stability, and recent credit history. Scores below that range are frequently approved at standard rates rather than promotional ones. The application is short and the decision usually comes back the same day, so the fastest way to find out where you land is to apply rather than guess.

What would the monthly payment be on a $10,000 system?

At 0% APR over 60 months, a $10,000 balance works out to roughly $167 a month. That is arithmetic on a round number for illustration, not a quote. Your actual figure depends on the equipment, the size of the system your home needs, and any rebates or tax credits applied. We put the real number in writing before anything is signed.

Can I still claim the federal 25C tax credit if I finance?

Financing the purchase does not disqualify the equipment. The 25C credit attaches to the qualifying system and its installation, not to how you paid for it. Eligibility depends on the equipment meeting the efficiency requirements in the year it is placed in service, so always verify current rules at irs.gov or with your tax preparer before assuming an amount. We provide the AHRI certificate, model numbers, and ENERGY STAR documentation you will need at filing.

What is Ohio ECO-Link and can I use it on a furnace?

ECO-Link is an Ohio Treasurer program that buys down the interest rate on a loan from a participating bank by up to 3 percentage points for up to seven years. At least half the loan has to fund energy-efficiency improvements, and a high-efficiency furnace or heat pump can count toward that. It is a separate route from the financing on this page, arranged through your own bank rather than through us, and the two are not combined. Confirm current terms and the participating-lender list with the Ohio Treasurer's office.

What are my options if I do not qualify for the 0% tier?

Approval at a standard rate is common even when the promotional tier is not offered. Beyond contractor financing, the routes homeowners in Northeast Ohio most often use are a home equity line of credit, which usually carries a lower rate than unsecured borrowing if you have equity, a personal loan from a local credit union, or a dedicated home improvement loan. If your household is income-eligible, the Home Weatherization Assistance Program may cover heating replacement outright and is worth checking before borrowing at all.

Does this offer expire?

The current 0% APR for 60 months window runs through November 20, 2026, and the issuer can change or withdraw promotional terms. Financing on a new system does not disappear when a rate window closes, but the specific terms do move. Call (330) 469-6701 to confirm what is available on the day you are deciding rather than assuming the rate on any website is still current.

What NE Ohio says about AK Heating & Cooling

4.9 avg· 106+ reviews

“Furnace went out on a Sunday night. AK had a tech in the driveway in 90 minutes, parts on the truck, and we were warm before kids' bedtime. Worth every dollar of the maintenance plan.”

Mark D. · Warren, OHGoogle

“Our restaurant walk-in went down at 6am. AK answered the after-hours line on the second ring and had us running before lunch service. We've switched all of our refrigeration work to them.”

Diane P. · Niles, OHGoogle

“Had Generac install, AC tune-up, and a humidifier swap done across two visits. One bill, one company, real techs. This is what local service is supposed to feel like.”
