24/7 emergency dispatch
Real dispatcher, real techs on the truck, year-round across five counties. When power's out and the standby won't start, you don't wait for Monday morning.
When the lights are out and your standby won't start, every hour matters. AKHC runs 24/7 emergency dispatch across Trumbull, Mahoning, Portage, Ashtabula, and Columbiana counties - real techs, authorized parts, fixed right.

When a Generac quits, the cause is almost always one of seven: dead battery, fouled spark plugs, packed air filter, carburetor issues on older models, failing voltage regulator, dying stator or rotor, or a control board / transfer switch contactor problem. Our trucks carry the parts and tools for all seven - so most NE Ohio repairs finish in one visit instead of three.
Generac authorized dealer status matters more on repair than anywhere else. We order parts direct from Generac - high-frequency components are on the truck, less-common parts ship in 1 to 3 days. Non-authorized shops wait longer on parts and can't process warranty claims directly. If your unit is under warranty, the repair goes through us to Generac without you ever filing paperwork.
Every AKHC repair call starts with full diagnostics and a written flat-rate quote before any work begins. Common parts on the truck, less-common parts shipped direct from Generac in 1 to 3 days.
Five steps from the call to a working generator. No call centers, no waiting on parts when authorized dealers stock them, no surprise invoice creep.
Call (330) 469-6701 - real dispatcher, 24/7. Read us your display error code if there is one; that often lets us identify the failed part on the phone and bring it on the truck. Online booking through HouseCall Pro also available.
Business hours: typically within 4 hours across our service area. After hours: 24/7 dispatch with premium rate. You get a text with the tech's photo and ETA when they're rolling.
Full diagnostic - battery test, fuel pressure, ignition spark, control-board read, transfer switch operational check. We identify the root cause, check warranty status, and write you a flat-rate quote on the spot. No work starts until you sign off.
If parts are on the truck, repair happens the same visit. If we have to order, we get a temporary fix in place when possible and schedule the follow-up. Once repair is done, we run the full operational cycle: utility kill, generator start, transfer, run under load, transfer back. Confirms the fix held.
Service record filed, warranty claim submitted to Generac if applicable, 1-year parts and labor warranty on the repair work itself. If you're on an AKHC maintenance contract, the repair goes into your service record so the next maintenance visit knows what's been touched.
Plenty of HVAC shops dabble in generators. Here's what makes a Generac repair call from AKHC different.
Real dispatcher, real techs on the truck, year-round across five counties. When power's out and the standby won't start, you don't wait for Monday morning.
Order direct from Generac. High-frequency parts on the truck, less-common parts in 1 to 3 days. Non-authorized shops wait longer on parts and can't process warranty claims directly.
If your unit is under the 5-year limited warranty and the failure is covered, we file the claim with Generac directly. You don't see paperwork, you don't pay for the covered portion.
Diagnostic identifies the root cause, you get a written flat-rate quote, no work starts until you approve. We don't bill hourly, we don't bolt on mid-job invoice creep.
On older units (15+ years), we give you both the repair number and a written replacement quote. No commission pressure either way. Sometimes the repair is right, sometimes the replace math wins on a unit aging out.
Mantalis family, locally accountable. The same techs who service your unit on annual maintenance are the ones who repair it. Continuity matters on a 20-year piece of equipment.
First, look at the controller display - if there's an error code, that points the diagnosis. Second, check the manual disconnect breaker at the unit and the battery (a dead battery is the most common cause). Third, on most Generac air-cooled units you can manually pull-start with the recoil cord - read your owner's manual now and find the recoil location before you ever need it. If none of that works, call (330) 469-6701 - we run 24/7 emergency dispatch year-round.
By frequency: battery (number one, especially when exercise hasn't run), spark plugs, air filter (cottonwood seed packs them in NE Ohio summers), carburetor on older models (gummed by stale fuel), voltage regulator (intermittent output problems), stator and rotor issues (less common, more expensive), control board or display (occasional, sometimes corrosion-driven), and transfer switch contactor (welding under heavy load). The good news is the top three are all stocked parts and same-visit repairs.
Generac controllers display alphanumeric error codes - common ones include 1100 series (overspeed/underspeed), 1300 series (oil pressure or temperature), 1500 series (overcrank, unit tried to start and gave up), 2000 series (RPM sensor), and 2800 series (transfer switch communication). Read the code off the display when you call - it shortens the diagnostic and we may be able to identify the failed part on the phone so we bring it with us.
Yes - as a Generac authorized dealer we stock the high-frequency parts: batteries, spark plugs, air filters, oil filters, common control boards, voltage regulators for popular models, transfer switch contactors. Less-common parts (stator, rotor, specific model control boards) ship in 1 to 3 business days from Generac. Compared to non-authorized shops, our parts pipeline is faster because we order direct.
Depends on age and maintenance history. The Generac 5-year limited residential warranty covers parts and labor in year 1 to 2, parts only on years 3 to 5 (varies by model and component). Documented annual maintenance is required to keep it active. We check warranty status before quoting any repair - if it's covered, we submit the claim and you don't pay for the covered portion.
Rule of thumb: if the unit is under 12 years old with annual maintenance, repair almost always wins. 12 to 17 years old, depends on the failure - battery and plugs are cheap repairs; voltage regulator and control board are gray-zone; stator/rotor on an older unit tilts toward replacement. Over 18 to 20 years old with a major failure, replacement usually wins because the rest of the unit is starting to age out and Generac warranty coverage on new units adds 5 years of peace of mind. We give you both numbers in writing.
Business hours: typically same-day, often within 4 hours across our five-county area. After hours and weekends: 24/7 dispatch with a premium rate - real techs on the truck, not a callback for Monday. During active widespread outages (multi-day ice storms, lake-effect events), priority goes to active outage situations and we triage on the phone.
Same-day dispatch from our Warren shop across five counties.
“Furnace went out on a Sunday night. AK had a tech in the driveway in 90 minutes, parts on the truck, and we were warm before kids' bedtime. Worth every dollar of the maintenance plan.”
“Our restaurant walk-in went down at 6am. AK answered the after-hours line on the second ring and had us running before lunch service. We've switched all of our refrigeration work to them.”
“Had Generac install, AC tune-up, and a humidifier swap done across two visits. One bill, one company, real techs. This is what local service is supposed to feel like.”
Most Generac air-cooled standby units have a manual recoil pull-start built in - intended for use when the battery is dead during an actual outage and you need the unit to run anyway. The cord and the procedure are in the owner's manual. Find that page tonight, in daylight, with the lights on, while you can read it. Tape a printed copy inside the generator's lower service panel. The night the battery quits during an ice storm is not the moment to be hunting through a PDF on a dying phone. We can also walk you through it on the phone when you call (330) 469-6701, but knowing it cold saves you 20 cold minutes.
