Leetonia sits in the rolling farmland of north-central Columbiana County, inland of any lake-effect snow but in hard Northeast Ohio winter — sustained cold, a 42-inch frost line, and a long heating season. Natural-gas coverage drops off quickly outside the village, so propane and wood backup are common in the surrounding townships. Combined with the age of the village housing, that makes chimney inspection and CO testing a standard part of every heating visit.
